Is the boost actually worth betting?

With both sides of the original market, the calculator removes the book's margin to estimate the fair win probability. A sharper market's price (for example an exchange) gives a better estimate.

The better the fair probability, the more the expected value means.

Exchange prices

Novig and ProphetX usually price with less margin than a sportsbook, which makes them a good fair-price reference. ThunderBet shows them next to the books.

Frequently asked questions

Estimate the fair win probability, usually by removing the margin from both sides of the original market, then compare it with the break-even rate at the boosted odds. If the fair probability is higher, the boost is positive expected value.

Each side of the original market is converted to an implied probability and divided by their sum, which removes the margin. A sharper market such as an exchange gives a better estimate than the boosting book.

Boosts usually cap the stake. Expected value scales with the stake, so a large percentage edge on a small max bet can still be worth only a few dollars.
